About The Film:
Part travelogue, part human analysis, and fully All-American, CHEESEHEADS: THE DOCUMENTARY takes viewers on a humorous and intimate journey through factories, farms, museums, breweries and boardrooms in order to explore Cheesehead culture and the people who have taken that moniker from local to global as a proud symbol of Wisconsin.
After two decades away, filmmaker John Mitchell returns to Wisconsin, the place of his youth, to discover the deeper meaning of being a Cheesehead. While many associate the term with sports, cheese and beer, Mitchell’s film highlights the hard-working and generous people behind the once harsh now affectionate term, who embody the very values on which the heartland of America was built.
Featured in the documentary is actor Chris Mulkey (Whiplash, Captain Phillips), Miss American 2012 Laura Kaeppeler, US Senator Ron Johnson, Governor Scott Walker, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, and Outdoor Wisconsin host Dan Small, with special appearances by professional football legends Chester Marcol, and Dave Robinson.
